By popular demand, critically acclaimed and bestselling author Karen Joy Fowler

I recently asked some of you whom you would most like to meet via one of my interviews. Karen Joy Fowler, two-time Nebula Award winner for short story (What I Didn’t See, 2003; Always, 2008), listed twice for the Booker Award (We Are Completely Beside Ourselves, Shortlist 2014; Booth, Longlist 2022), winner of a PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction (We Are Completely Beside Ourselves, 2014), winner of many World Fantasy Awards including a Life Achievement Award in 2020, and the NYT-Bestselling author of The Jane Austen Book Club (2004) was the first person nominated, and the one most often seconded. Imagine my surprise, then, when she actually said yes to my invitation!

And, having started my preparation by reading Booth and We Are Completely Beside Ourselves, I am so glad she did. I have been told that Karen tells a great story about her journey and I am looking forward to the inside scoop on the amazing path it has been, but I am also very interested in her craft decisions, especially around genre, structure, and POV.

If you missed my thoroughly frank and fascinating chat with Karen, here is the recording.

Enjoy, and happy writing!
